Having Too Many Balls in The Air! I love my OSHO Zen Tarot cards, as they invite us to look at health issues in our life through different eyes. The stress card has the following message: “How many people do you know who, just when they were completely overloaded, with too many projects, too many balls in the air, have suddenly come down with the flu, or taken a fall and ended up on crutches? That’s just the sort of bad timing the little monkey with the pin in his hand is about to impose on the one-man-band pictured here. The quality of stress represented by this card visits all of us at times, but perfectionists are particularly vulnerable to it. We create it ourselves, with the idea that without us nothing will happen–especially in the way we want it to! Well, what makes you think you’re so special? Do you think the sun won’t rise in the morning unless you personally set the alarm? Go for a walk, buy some flowers, and fix yourself a spaghetti dinner–anything unimportant will do. Just put yourself out of that monkey’s reach!”

Reciprocity – it can be a lovely word, but may also have a sting in the tail. And that will depend on your expectation. If you do something expecting a certain response, you may well be setting yourself up for a disappointment. It is an aspect of unconditional love. Just for today, have in your mind that whatever you do, you do because you want to, expect nothing in return. For example, if you let someone out into the traffic, do not expect a thank you. If you let someone get their coffee before you, don't expect a positive response. Do it because you want to. Wellness initiatives are designed to boost the health and well-being of employees with the end goal of improving employee morale, boosting engagement, enhancing company performance and cutting down on employee absenteeism or in some cases employee presenteeism. Much has happened over the past decade with regards to introducing employee well-being into the workplace. I am walking on the coast. A lady behind me shouts ahead to her grandchildren and then apologises for shouting in my ear and being over-attentive. The conversation went like this: I responded with a smile and said: ‘No worries I’d love my mum to still be here being over-attentive.’ She said: ‘Oh you have lost someone. My husband died 20 months ago.’ This is the moment … when you have a chance to make a real difference to someone. I said: ‘Oh, only 20 months.’ As of late, I have had a number of students and clients who have been working through the challenge of climbing the insurmountable mountain of perfection. The general feeling of fatigue, exhaustion and self flagellation of constantly doing and not meeting their expectations OR not doing due to the fear of not meeting expectations, have dimmed the light on these beautiful vibrant souls. Striving for perfection stops us from Being the best that we can be. On the 4th July Venus enters Gemini. The planet related to love and money is in the airy sign of Gemini equalling space and freedom of movement both physically and emotionally. The mind requires stimulation - think rational rather than empathic. Communicating your love/romance needs is important. This energy here is flirty, free and is attracted to witty people. Gemini are the infamous twins and where money is concerned can be a free spirit so time to be mindful of your finances and not be fickle. The fact is that we sow what we reap. If you are thinking negative or self-limiting thoughts, that is what life will give you back. When we get to understand that, “Your thoughts create your future”, you are ready to change. A coaching session will concentrate on getting your inner world right and then your outer world will become right too. We are all too familiar with the little nagging voice inside our head that criticises us, telling us we are no good or could have done better etc. A few days ago, a good friend of mine and I went out for a meal and a catch up. During the meal, she told me that she was passed over for a promotion because her ‘would-be’ immediate superior said that she would not fit into the culture as she knew what she wanted, and came across as being ‘arrogant’. She brushed it off with an eye roll, but it really got me thinking…. When did ‘knowing what one wanted’ become an undesirable trait? Might you consider ‘joy’ and ‘work’ in the same sentence? I imagine that for many of you that is not an easy combination. Let’s explore this concept and how it may be of benefit to you. Work, in this definition, is whatever you do that takes up most of your time, so it may be in an office, factory, farm, house, school – anywhere you spend most of your waking hours. The Sun is beaming in the constellation of Gemini now having moved late May. Gemini is an air sign ruled by Mercury the planet of communication and travel. Being a busy mentally active sign Gemini is depicted as the" twins " infamous for having a double-sided personality. This is all fine of course providing the devil does not make use of a Gemini's idle hands. When bored, this energy can be fickle and a gossip. Use this energy to plan travel, events, develop communication, write and express it in a positive way. ...And how to access it? Energy healing therapies focus on removing congestion that forms in our energetic circulatory system - our energy centres (chakras), our pathways of energy flow (meridians) and our energy field (aura). This congestion, or energetic ‘sludge’, builds up as a result of the stresses of life and because of our human tendency to focus on negative emotions and negative thinking, rather than on the positives in our lives. In the modern world, life is so busy and today too many people are not feeling totally well or happy with their lives. The problem may be a physical health issue such as chronic back or hip pain, it may be work related stress or another mental and emotional health complaint with the most common being depression. Extreme tiredness and chronic fatigue are prevalent and there is an obvious indication that something is out of balance and although at the time it is uncomfortable, something needs to change. Meditation is extremely effective for stress relief and improving your health. Moreover it’s FREE and can be done practically anywhere. The mind never stops thinking, analyzing, and trying to figure things out – a person has about 70,000 thoughts per day. Yet most of the time we are unaware of this self-talk. What meditation does is still the mind and the constant thoughts for a period of extreme relaxation which reduces stress and anxiety levels – like a pressure release valve. There’s nothing great about average and where has status quo got you? In the doldrums of the dead sea of waiting. Waiting until you are fully inspired. Waiting until something changes or happens or goes away. Status quo is this made-up illusion that most of society buys into. It says what you have is enough, you don’t want to be greedy do you? Enjoy what you have, others don’t have even that much. It says, stay and work towards benefits. It says, who do you think you are? During the last ten years, I have made a concerted effort to take control of my health, tuning into my bio rhythms, eliminating certain foods from my diet, changing the way I exercise and keeping a journal of my health including sleep patterns. I have enjoyed sharing my ideas and my findings with others in the faith that they too can achieve improvements by simply being more aware of themselves. |
