The 10th September was World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide is the single biggest killer of men under 45. The World Health Organization estimates that over 800,000 people die by suicide each year – that’s one person every 40 seconds.
Up to 25 times as many again attempt suicide.
Sometimes there is a trigger for depression. Life changing events, such as bereavement, losing your job or even having a baby, can bring it on and it can happen to anyone. People with a family history are also more likely to experience it themselves. But you can become depressed for no obvious reason.
Treatment of depression will always depend on the severity and also the personality of the individual concerned but ancient methods of healing such as Reflexology, along with the care and attention given with a treatment, may be a powerful aid to enduring symptoms of depression.
