“Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics” Albert Einstein.
Thoughts can make or break us. Is that true?
Well, not really, as thoughts in themselves do not carry much power. The power comes from the emotion behind the thought and it is the emotion that can actually make or break us. Emotions have the power to give us a life of joy, happiness and great health. However, the opposite is often what we unwittingly create.
I've recently been travelling in Central America and whilst we were on an early morning hike, one of my group started jumping in puddles like a young child, declaring “If you’re ever feeling sad, just put on your wellies!”
Our thoughts are incredibly powerful to the extent that every thought we think has a direct effect on our body and our world. Our thoughts are directly linked to our emotions which are said to be direct communication from our soul and all our life experiences are a result of both our thoughts and emotions.
We do not need to study philosophy but comprehend basic quantum physics to understand how important and powerful our own thoughts really are. Albert Einstein made the connection between mind and energy very clear in the famous quote in the box below..
The Power of Thought? Well, the very title of the piece started me thinking. In fact, I thought about it for days. A thought can be many things - positive, negative, inspiring, preventative, cognitive, reactive, meditative, original or not, motivational, damaging and even thoughtless- if that thought is put into action or spoken without consideration. The adjectives seem endless. And thoughts have consequences.
That is what the song says to us - but HOW?
I expect you are saying, 'I'd love to stop, but I can't!'
So here are two things to assist you: one is an amazingly encouraging piece of news AND the other a fool proof way to stop your worrying - want to know more?
Investigative journalist Lynne McTaggart has looked extensively into the subject of quantum mechanics and how the placebo effect can work.
Amongst other examples she cites the following study undertaken at Methodist Hospital in Houston, where Dr. Bruce Moseley, a specialist in orthopaedics, recruited 150 patients with severe osteoarthritis of the knee and divided them into three groups.
Two-thirds were either given arthroscopic lavage (which washes out degenerative tissue and debris with the aid of a little viewing tube) or another form of debridement (which sucks it out with a tiny vacuum cleaner).
The third group were given a sham operation: The patients were surgically prepared, placed under anaesthesia and wheeled into the operating room. Incisions were made in their knees, but no procedure carried out.
Over the next two years, during which time none of the patients knew who had received the real operations and who had received the placebo treatment, all three groups reported moderate improvements in pain and function. In fact, the placebo group reported better results than some who had received the actual operation.
The Power of Thought is not just confined to health matters as thoughts can also be turned to one’s goals for wealth and success.
As a Life Coach I see the difference that people can bring to their lives by setting their own goals and intentions. This is the Power of Thought in action!

In our Resources and Reading page you will find just a small selection from some of the many wonderful experts and teachers on the Power of Thought.
And last but not least some words and a video from Louise Hay:
"What we think about ourselves becomes the truth for us. I believe that everyone, myself included, is responsible for everything in our lives, the best and the worst. Every thought we think is creating our future. Each one of us creates our experiences by our thoughts and our feelings. The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences." - Louise L. Hay
