It just takes a few small changes...
The first question is must be “What is toxic”? What is a problem for one person is not necessarily an issue of toxicity for another person!
Take the Plastic bottle
We all use them. They seem innocent enough in one sense and very handy but if you go to part of the world’s oceans where there is a floating island the size of the country we call Wales. This “Island” is full of plastic bottles and debris that us humans seem to dump at random, without consideration. Now, if you asked the dolphins, whales and turtles who swim in those waters (or try to), they may not agree with you that your simple plastic bottle is not toxic! It is ruining their environment. Consider food poisoning If by carelessness in a restaurant you contracted food poisoning, and then suffered wicked gastro enteritis as a result, you are now toxic. What is worse is you are now making your environment toxic with your very upset stomach. I am not sure that we all know what happens to toxic bacteria- laden waste when it disappears down the loo but I am sure it must be added to other waste and disposed of... in the sea? So again, we have made our environment a bit more “polluted” or toxic. Ummmm. Up cycling clothes This is helping to make the planet less toxic and some car companies are making their car parts able to be recycled or reused but I dread to think of all the plastic on scooters, buggies, kids toys and cars and where that all lands up.
Public Tips These now allow the sale of some perfectly good items to be re used for very little money. I recently bought 2 very exclusive kitchen cabinets that previously been in an extremely expensive house and were no longer wanted after a kitchen re-fit. I got them for just £10 each! That’s better than landfill and filing up holes in the planet to create more toxic waste! They will not biodegrade! Skincare If you take the waste created from the packaging alone on some skincare items, its already criminal and toxic to our planet! Inks that are not earth friendly and paper not from sustainable sources for starters. Look deeper in to what is in the products and some of the ingredients used are REALLY toxic... cancer producing toxic! It is now said that sunscreen products are killing the coral in the sea and we still don’t know what the preservatives and other chemicals that the skincare companies add to various products are doing to the toxicity of the seas and the animals that exist within our seas. So, now we are officially depressed ... what can we do about it? What to do? Buy a reusable Metal water bottle to carry around with you may be a step in the right direction. It’s a lifetime of NO plastic bottles that you are not getting rid of. We appear to have embraced (a little begrudgingly!) the NO plastic bags for free, but we still have the facility to buy plastic bags when really they all should be banned. Hemp or cotton carrier bags is what we should be using if we cared enough. Food poisoning: We could spend some money and get some excellent probiotics, such as Optibac probiotics, into us quickly and make ourselves well again far more quickly and thus make our environment less toxic, quickly. Colloidal Silver (Silver Shied liquid) will kill the bugs off quickly and get us back on our feet quickly and off the loo! We can invest in wooden toys for children not plastic and support companies that have a recycling policy for their cars and bikes. Recycle your clothes but dying them different colours (using water based eco friendly clothing dyes!) and attach different beads/buttons/ patches or jewellery to the garment. Look in the local tips and see if you can find something you are looking for or something you can up cycle and buy it for next to nothing! Look for companies that care about the environment when making skincare products and are more concerned about what is in the products and how much good it does for the skin as well as not harming the environment and stay away from the companies that just want to make more money and do not care about what is going on to your skin let alone being washed down the drains and in to the rivers and sea. All these may be baby steps but if everyone did it... the result would be Stupendous! We just all need to make a few small changes to a few things we do each year and the overall impact will be huge.
