![]() Why the best way to lose weight is to stop trying... Firstly imagine if a friend of yours when asked to meet for a drink responds "yeah I'll try" Do they turn up? We know of course they won't because sub-consciously we know that trying implies failure... Imagine yourself picking up a glass of water and now imagine yourself trying to pick the glass up! You quickly will understand the point I am making... Once we've given up trying in all areas of life the second area of attention required is in the area of motivation... When you think of losing WEIGHT think for a moment where is the attention being placed? The answer is that the attention is being placed on WEIGHT and all the great teachers the world has ever known have taught us that... We get what we place our attention on... So in essence by trying to LOSE WEIGHT we are actually attracting weight... It's like trying to play sport by trying NOT TO FAIL, short term results may follow but long term failure is inevitable.... In essence this explains the yo-yo effect in dieting.... The dieter is trying to lose weight with an unconscious image of them being overweight that they do not like.... They move away from this image until they have successfully lost the weight and they feel more comfortable. The problem is that a) the motivation has disappeared and b) the image in their mind of them being overweight is still there! The result is the unconscious elastic band snapping back into place! The old habits return (98% of people who diet fail to keep the weight off for more than a year) with the vast majority putting more on than they lost in the first place! So please please please.... If you are making a New Years Resolution this year make it to be one of committing to HEALTH in as many small ways as you can each day for the rest of your life...
