Even though I have been on this planet for quite a few years now, spring always surprises and delights me. Whether you are in the country or in a city, observing the cycles of nature can provide a whole different perspective on the world and possibly your attitude. Very soon after the leaves have fallen some trees start to make their buds for their new spring leaves, smudging the line and making spring and therefore summer seem close. If you pick up leaves in your garden, there is often the surprise of bulbs starting to push their green noses through the earth. Observe that one stage of the cycle naturally merges right into the next - it is seamless. Might this assist you to flow with changes a little easier? Tuning in to the burgeoning of colour, in my garden now are primroses of many colours, crocuses, iris, cyclamen, daffodils, hyacinths, and just starting some tulips and anemones. The grass is a vibrant almost lime green and not to be outdone the cherry, almond and forsythia doing the amazing trick of making beautiful flowers without a leaf in sight - so it looks almost ethereal. Being aware and connected to these richness fills my heart with joy and awe and makes me want to go gambolling about like a lamb!! It is possible to cultivate a spring hope attitude any time of the year - it is a positively constructive way to be. When did you last skip? Or giggle with joy? Or sigh with happiness? Or be enormously grateful for all you do have? Somehow this is brought into stark contrast in that I have several close friends dealing with horrid illnesses and the thought of a spring they may not see is hard to bear. I am reminded of a dear neighbour who, at 101, when he was asked what he was doing replied that he was planting pansies, even if he didn't see them, many would enjoy their 'pretty faces'. You can always plan make the world just a little better for someone else. Is there some small or larger ‘thing’ that you can do or say or share that is ‘planting for the future’? March often has very changeable weather, it is the perfect metaphor for life – that constant change is sometimes faster and sometimes slower and always changing. One minute there can be winds and even gales - let them blow away any feelings and attitudes which do not help you to be your best, take a walk on a blustery beach front or in a park or howling forest. March also has a wonderful mix of sun and rain - perfect for new growth and remember that both are equally important for new life to develop – what are the wind, sun and rain in your life? Look for ways to use the gifts of change to help you to prepare to bloom. As change is constant how can you prepare yourself to make the most of it? They say there is no bad weather, just the wrong clothes! We wish you spring filled joys, a smile on your face and contentment in your heart. Vanda North
