How to harness your own energy for healing

Pain or disease in the body is a sign tha
t something is out of balance and although at the time it is uncomfortable, it can help us make necessary lifestyle changes or just rest for a while, to restore and recharge the body.

An illness or injury may have an emotional cause and tapping into this could be the first step to self-healing. So initially, go back to the time just before you felt tension or pain in the body and try to remember the emotion you were experiencing. This will be the emotional state you need to identify and work with in the best way possible.

Self- healing can be done in several ways and the best healing modality will depend on the individual. Physical ailments will have an emotional cause and one way of healing these is by using flower essences. Also, look at what you are putting into your body and make the necessary dietary adjustments for optimal energy and healing – fruit, vegetables, probiotics. Consider your activity- are you doing too little? or too much? Do you need to rest? Or exercise more? Some back problems, for example, can manifest after long periods of sitting or driving in which case gentle stretching and light activity may help.
We are energy beings comprising of 99.9999 percent energy and energy must flow freely round our bodies for optimal health.
We have many energy centres in our bodies known as chakras and of these energy centres, which spin in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions, there are 7 main ones which are crown, brow, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and base. These energy centres need to be all balanced for optimal health and wellbeing.
Each chakra has colour and is also believed to be directly linked to a part of the endocrine system (glands in the body which produce hormones that regulate metabolism and growth and development):
  • Crown chakra – purple – pituitary gland.
  • Brow chakra – indigo – Pineal gland.
  • Throat chakra – blue – Thyroid and parathyroid glands.
  • Heart chakra – green – Thymus.
  • Solar plexus chakra – yellow – pancreas/Adrenals.
  • Sacral chakra – orange – reproductive system(ovaries/testes).
  • Base chakra – red - Adrenals

Chakras often become blocked and energy flowing through them can affect organs, muscles and nerves in our physical body. When one or more of our chakras are blocked, we can feel physical pain or mentally out of balance (confused. Stressed, depressed). This is because our internal energy pathway is being interrupted.

When self- healing and clearing chakras, attempt to identify your emotional state before the symptoms and try flower essences to heal this (see below) and combine with the following healing exercise to work on the physical:
  • 1. Isolate an area within your body causing tension or pain
  • 2. Close your eyes and really focus your attention on this area. What do you see? Does any colour come to mind? What do you feel?
  • 3. Ask why it is there? What caused it? And what was your emotional state before this occurred?
  • 4. Ask yourself, are you willing to release the pain and tension in this affected area?
  • 5. If yes, visualise healing in the area in any way which feels right to you. It may be visualising the chakra colour as clear and vibrant in the affected area. It may be imagining warmth or cold.
  • 6. Ask yourself, is there something which will help me to release this discomfort? Trust what you get and follow your own guidance.

Energy blocks also stem from experiences in the past or concerns about the future. For a recurring injury or illness or cycle of events, there may be repeating mental/emotional states stemming from a belief that you may not even be aware, of which could be held in the subconscious mind and originate back to childhood (or earlier in adulthood) following a comment from a peer, teacher, parent - anyone. Again, flower essences can help work with these beliefs, raise emotional states and assist with replacing negative beliefs with positive ones. Some examples of Bach flower essences which can be used for recurring problems are:
  • Feeling of failing - Larch for confidence
  • Repeating patterns and making same mistake - Chestnut Bud
  • Feeling unhappy with self or appearance - Crab Apple
  • Feeling unable to cope with change - Walnut
  • Emotionally affected by hormones – Cherry Plum

So, for self-healing, explore the connected emotions and acknowledge before treating with essences, make the necessary dietary changes and lifestyle changes (even if this just means having a break from regular routine). Try to get outside in nature as much as possible, use the healing exercise and follow your own guidance if you feel further healing/treatments are required to balance the body.

Be kind to yourself and take the time you need.
