The Feldendrais Method is a revolutionary approach to health and fitness. Feldenkrais is an intuitive therapy that tackles physical problems at source by bringing awareness to individual movements. It works neurologically, helping to improve gross motor skills and sensory awareness. Everyone works at their level of ability within their comfort zone. You learn organically by following your sensations of comfort and ease. Using "Awareness Through Movement," people of any age or condition can learn to move more comfortably and effectively. This method reawakens the natural process by which we as babies learned to crawl, walk, and talk and demonstrates that the remedy lies within each of us. Through the Feldenkrais method you can improve range of motion, flexibility and coordination. People who have benefitted from Feldenkrais with include clients recovering from a stroke or surgery, and sufferers of chronic pain and tension. Neurological disorders such as MS, Parkinson's and EHD can also hugely benefit from the Feldenkrais method. This treatment is gentle, powerful and effective. It is named after its originator, Mosche Feldenkrais (1904 -1984), an engineer and physicist as well as a Judo teacher. While Feldenkrais is less common than the similar Alexander Technique, those who’ve experienced it relish its dynamic, permissive and reflective feel. Participants don’t need to understand it to reap the benefits. Typically, in an hour’s session you’ll receive hands-on gentle guidance to make you more aware of your body patterns and capacity for change. This work can be experienced in groups as well as one to one, making it perfect for Wellbeing Days. People sometimes equate Feldenkrais with mindfulness but I think it does more than that, it works in the same way – you become aware of your connection between mind and body – your physicality and your emotions. But it can also help directly with physical problems. Jane Watson
