For as long as I have been on the spiritual path, I have heard the wisdom of those talking about the ‘I AM’ Presence – our Higher self, our Monad or God self. The mighty ‘I AM’ is defined as our unique and immortal true identity and, as I have found, personally and with clients, has been within us the entire time. We are our ‘I AM’ presence.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind, a faithful follower. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift. – Albert Einstein.
Transcending past our ego and emotional selves to embody and align with the ‘I AM’ brings about a deep change in many different facets in our lives, including healthily keeping toxicity, in terms of behaviour, choices, thoughts and events, at bay. This is especially pertinent in the wake of recent events. This last month has been a time of exciting, tangible changes occurring in the world. We saw Britain voting to leave the European Union after 43 years, the Aboriginals in Australia being given some of the land back, after 47 years; and the ongoing US electoral process. Whether or not we agree with the outcome of these political processes, one fact cannot be disputed - there is a shift in Global Consciousness on an incredible magnitude and with this comes the shaking of the foundation of establishment and status quo. ‘I AM’ Aligned and Open. Whilst many are feeling the tumultuous shift in consciousness, it’s been fascinating observing the changes taking place, and seeing how far it is taking individuals, as well as the global consciousness, into the future. Being aligned with our ‘I AM’ selves, and open to surfing the tidal wave of change can be exciting and calming all at the same time. The one thing that happens during these big events of change, regardless the outcome, is that we are exposed to a huge influx of information, and so many people wake up. Whilst many blame Change as being the purveyor of unrest and toxicity, it actually is a way to dredge down to the bottom of the barrel, sift out any sediment, sludge or hidden treasures, bringing them to the light, for either keeping, discarding or changing it for the better. Only when we know and are aware, can we make fully informed decisions and embrace change fearlessly. To be Aware, one needs to be Open. ‘I AM’ Open allows for inspiration and wisdom from the seat of our Divine Selves to flow through and merge with the outside information our receptive rational and ego selves, keeping us calm, balanced and in joy. The resonance of Joy and calm allows us to be more open, whereas the resonance of fear, contracts and closes us.
Change is an uncomfortable phase in our lives. Whether one is going through an individual change (like moving house, changing job or a death of a loved one, for example) or at a macro level (like changes in government, or natural events) change can rock the foundations of ourselves and those around us, and open ourselves up to toxicity.
For example - the day the results of the referendum came out, in the UK, marked a time of great change. It’s been a time of extreme emotional outpouring in a nation that is normally polite, open and accepting. Political parties split and the media went into full blown hysteria. Verbal abuse against race, age and socioeconomic class took centre stage, and very few people dared to admit how they’d voted to their friends, families and neighbours for fear of breakdown in relationship. There was so much toxicity that it reminded me of the importance of staying in ‘Balance’ – for peace within and outside of self. ‘I AM’ in Balance. By Being in Balance, one is: a. Not pulled in to the emotion of the other person b. Not baited into saying anything insulting or spurious myself c. Able to express one’s truth calmly and with dignity d. Able to observe what was happening, as opposed to participate in the drama – thus learning a lot more e. Involved, yet at the same time detached, from the emotional dramas that were happening During this tumultuous time, it sometimes was a challenge to Be in Balance. However, these times are a reminder that Being in Balance is a Conscious process – that we have to be aware at all times of how we feel, by aligning with ‘I AM’ and aligning with our truth. Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, glorious in the end. Being Aligned and in Balance helps us navigate through the unchartered territories that both the wider and more personal changes bring, with much more comfort and positivity. Being Open to ‘I AM’ and all that is around us allows us to weigh the discomfort of change against the consequences with the Divine Wisdom of our deeper selves, and steers us to our true path and resonance, without the interference of the toxic influences of Ego, Fear and conditioned believes. These waves of change are getting more and more intense, as the global consciousness shifts into a new way of Being. As I see it, we have two choices: We can choose to BE in a resonance of contraction, toxicity and fear and paddle furiously against the flow; Or we can BE aligned with ‘I AM’ and BE Open to the incredible possibilities that this new shift is bringing to us as we ride the train of change to a shifting consciousness and a future of hope and joy.
